Axelspace and Pacific Consultants Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Address Social Infrastructure Challenges Using Satellite Data

Axelspace Corporation (“Axelspace”), a leading microsatellite company dedicated to realizing “Space within Your Reach”, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd. (“Pacific Consultants”). Under this collaboration, we will address challenges in the social infrastructure field by using satellite data.

In Japan, social infrastructure faces mounting challenges: a growing shortage of maintenance personnel amid a declining and aging population, increasingly frequent and severe natural disasters, and the need to manage aging facilities. Demand is growing for satellite-based solutions that provide wide-area coverage, regular observation, and non-contact monitoring.

Pacific Consultants has spent more than 75 years developing social infrastructure, including roads, rivers, ports, and urban planning, and brings deep domain expertise in disaster prevention and infrastructure management.
Axelspace operates “GRUS,” a series of 100 kg-class optical Earth observation satellites, under its “AxelGlobe” data service, with advanced capabilities to acquire, analyze, and deliver high-frequency optical satellite data.
By combining these strengths, we concluded that we could offer more advanced solutions to these increasingly complex challenges — leading to this collaboration.

Through this partnership, we will:
– Plan, research, and develop new technologies and services that utilize satellite data, in Japan and overseas
– Demonstrate and implement solutions to social issues such as disaster prevention and infrastructure management
– Collaborate on project formation, proposals, and PR/sales activities to promote the use of satellite data
– Apply Axelspace’s satellite technologies and services within Pacific Consultants’ business

Under the MOU, we will accelerate the development and practical implementation of solutions that put satellite data to practical use—from early damage assessment and wide-area monitoring for disaster prevention to continuous monitoring of infrastructure deterioration. We will also pursue joint proposals for customers in Japan and overseas, aiming to expand both companies’ businesses.
